Or is CAV10 running without a HASP/USB dongle on you surface laptop ? You can save them in X8 and then work on them in a current version.

You could download Chief Architect X8 to open those old plan files. I was able to install version 10 on a Windows Surface laptop running Windows 10 but could not get it to install on my Windows 10 desktop.
